‘Need something more than the regular ‘sorry’
Something more than recurring apologies, mundane and dull.
‘Need something not as empty as a dry well in the harmattan.
Or as sparse as a wheat farm that’s out of season.
‘Put my damn life on the line for you, For us.
We broke bread & drank wine together, you sang and we played the piano together.
You tattooed my name on your chest & I engraved your name across my heart.
Now the arcs bleed a bright red, just like how you said I turned on the first date.
So keep your fraud of a jewelry, trade with it maybe you could afford some J’s.
Keep your two cents, they rattle like a thousand counters in an old chest. Boy, quit the noise.
Take a page out my book, that’s your bible now. Live by it, you’d probably learn a thing or two.
